Do you suffer from aches, pains and stiffness?
Here are a few tips to feel better:
While still in bed:
- Sit up.
- Prop yourself with a pillow.
- Slowly move your hands (stretch your fingers, make a fist). REPEAT 5 times.
- Stretch each arm gently in front of you and bring back towards your chest. REPEAT 5 times.
- Stretch each leg gently in front of you and bring back towards your abdomen. REPEAT 5 times.
- Stretch each foot (point away from your body). REPEAT 5 times.
- Sit at the edge of your bed and move your legs. Slowly stretch your arms. Get out of bed carefully.
If you feel unsteady, stand and wait a few seconds.
Stiff hands:
- Run warm water on your hands and then gently massage them with soap.
During the day:
- Go for short walks often.
- While sitting, stretch your fingers, arms, legs and feet. REPEAT 5 times.
- While sitting, lift one leg with knee bent. Cup your knee with both hands and turn your ankles in a rotating movement to the right, then to the left. REPEAT 5 times for each leg.
- While sitting, move your head to the right, looking over your shoulder and do the same movement to the left.
If you are dizzy, do not do this movement.
While standing:
- There are several movements you can make using the back of a chair for support.
This is done with the guidance of your trainer or nurse.
